A Timeless Coastal Escape

Nestled on the shores of Shark Beach in Nielsen Park, The Nielsen Beach Club blends vintage charm with modern refinement. Designed as an effortless escape, the space feels both nostalgic and fresh. A tribute to classic beach clubs while embracing its stunning coastal surroundings.


A Statement Bar with Timeless Tiles

At the heart of the venue sits the statement bar, a stunning centrepiece clad in handcrafted EZR1010 Dust Zellige tiles from Tiles of Ezra. Known for their rich texture and natural variation, these tiles bring a tactile, organic quality to the space. The American oak slats that break up the zellige tiling highlight the contrast between raw craftsmanship and refined elegance. Unlike previous projects by Sydney Restaurant Group, where bold colours often took centre stage, this time the neutral palette was a deliberate choice, allowing the venue to seamlessly adapt to any event, whether a wedding, birthday, or celebration.

A Design Rooted in History and Nature

This reimagined space balances old and new with preserved concrete floors, crazy pave flooring, and a refitted timber deck. A soft, sun-faded palette reflects the coastal surroundings, while vintage lighting, ceramics, and rattan treasures from Italy and France add charm. Playful touches—like swings in the beach shack—bring a sense of whimsy.


Architectural Vision & Thoughtful Execution

This three-year journey, from February 2021 to December 2024, saw BJB Architects and Urban Core navigate heritage considerations and unexpected discoveries. Each challenge shaped the venue into a space rich in depth and character.
