Every mosaic begins as an authentic Tierra tile, handcrafted from high-fired natural clay and individually hand glazed before being precision cut and carefully assembled into a collection of timeless patterns and formats. This process preserves the remarkable depth and character of the original glaze while offering endless opportunities to introduce detail, rhythm and visual interest into a space.

At Tiles of Ezra, our role extends beyond simply creating beautiful mosaics. We work closely with our artisan partners to refine every stage of production - from glaze development and precision cutting to sheet assembly and quality control - ensuring every mosaic reflects the Tiles of Ezra Standard. Developed through years of collaboration, each sheet is carefully inspected to deliver exceptional craftsmanship while preserving the authentic character of handmade ceramics.

At Tiles of Ezra, we celebrate these inherent characteristics while continually refining our production methods and quality control processes to meet the Tiles of Ezra Standard. Every sheet is carefully assembled and inspected to ensure it reflects the quality, authenticity and craftsmanship our clients expect.

Unlike many ceramic mosaics that are manufactured as individual pieces, every Tierra Mosaic is created by carefully cutting authentic handcrafted Tierra tiles before being expertly assembled onto mesh-backed sheets. This process preserves the remarkable depth, glaze and handcrafted character of the original tile throughout every mosaic design, ensuring the finished installation retains the same richness and authenticity as the larger Tierra tiles.

Rather than striving for machine-made uniformity, we believe the beauty of handmade mosaics lies in their individuality, ensuring every installation feels rich in character, timeless and truly one of a kind.

The following characteristics are an expected and celebrated part of authentic handmade ceramic mosaics.

• Natural variation in colour, tone and glaze movement
• Glazes with remarkable depth, character and subtle mineral speckling
• Natural glaze pooling and areas where the clay body may be visible beneath the glaze
• Variation in colour and glaze between individual mosaic pieces
• Handcrafted surface character, including gentle undulation, pinholes and kiln marks
• Hand-finished edges with slight variation in the size, shape and thickness of individual pieces
• Handmade mosaic pieces are intentionally not perfectly uniform, preserving the authentic character of the original tile
• Fine crazing may develop over time as part of the natural ageing process of handmade glazed ceramics
• Lime pops may occasionally occur due to the natural composition of the clay
• Natural variation between production batches
• Mosaic pieces are supplied pre-assembled on mesh-backed sheets, with slight variation in joint alignment that reflects the handmade nature of the product
